Spay Mania!
We have been going
door-to-door offering free spay/neuters and shots
to dogs and cats in the Judson Community (downtown
Greenville). We also provide free transportation as
this is a sure way to get the animals the help they
need. We hand out dog and cat treats, food,
collars, toys and good advice to guardians in need
and willing to take it. We spend 3 - 4 hours
talking to people about their pets; if you're not
comfortable w/ the idea of talking to strangers, no
problem! We need help taking and documenting
photos, filing out applications, setting
appointments and transporting the animals to and
from their appointments.
We meet
at the Judson Community
Center YMCA (2 Eighth St., Greenville, SC 29611) on the
the 3rd Saturday of the month.
If you would like to join us, please RSVP

By the way, all of the
items we have to give out are provided by our
volunteers and supporter donations!

Here's what our volunteers (Spay-Maniacs) are
saying:
"What an incredible day it was yesterday. Thanks
to John, Tricia, Michele and Warren for spending
their Saturday morning in service to animals and
people in the Judson neighborhood. We have
scheduled at least 10 dogs/cats to be
spayed/neutered this coming week. Thanks to our
transport volunteers (Pat, Pam and John confirmed
so far...) who will help this week."
An update from
another of our
Spay-Maniacs:
"I know that this is
doing a great service for all the dogs and cats
that need help. I had a great time today, and I
look forward to helping out again next
weekend...and after that.
I guess when we were
walking around the neighborhood, I saw the
condition that many of these dogs and cats were
living in, but at the same time, I didn't see it.
It was a lot to process, not only the situation of
the animals, but that of the people as well. I had
time to think about all of this on my way home, and
I'm convinced that we're really helping to make a
difference in these animals' (and peoples') lives."
A
Spay-Maniac's recent outing:
Dear SFA Members and Supporters,
July proved to be a very busy month for the Spay-Maniac Team! The
team hit a record for the number of dogs and cats signed up
for spay/neuter surgeries. We hit the streets at 9:00 a.m., armed
with plenty of donated (thank you all!) dog and cat food, treats,
toys, dishes, fresh water and humane education books. By 1:00,
the team had exceeded its monthly Spay-Mania budget, but when the
last house visited had 11 animals in need of spays and neuters AND
their guardians we're WILLING (and VERY thankful), you just can't
say no.
Enjoy the photos and please be reminded that the entire Speak for
Animals organization is grateful to you for your support! Without
it, we couldn't do the great work we're doing in our
communities.
Peace.
Tricia
